This nationally accredited program allows adult students the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma—not a GED—while gaining career skills in multiple employment fields across a wide spectrum.

As the season of renewal unfolds, we're excited to share the progress and impact of the Rockford Public Library Adult Online High School (AOHS) program as we embark on a promising 2025. This year marks an important milestone with the opening of Main Library, and we've strategically leveraged increased visibility and local interest to enhance our program and better serve our dedicated adult learners.

The impact of your donations extends far beyond individual diplomas. As Program Manager Leon Smith eloquently stated, "You're not just changing a life; You are changing generations. You're breaking the habits that have held families down for a long time." His words underscore the profound ripple effect of your support, especially in a city like Rockford where, sadly, 500 students leave the traditional school system each year. Our AOHS program is a vital intervention, working to reverse this trend and empower adults to actively participate in their social, political, and cultural lives.

We are thrilled to report significant progress. In 2025, we anticipate a total of 168 AOHS graduates. Our current graduating class of 45 adult students demonstrates a remarkable 75% completion or active progression rate – a testament to the dedication of our students, the effectiveness of our program, and your unwavering support. Notably, 86% of our students are parents, highlighting how completing their education empowers them to secure better employment and build brighter futures for their entire households.
